At More Than Fit, coaching is personal. Every member of our staff brings real-world expertise, genuine investment in the people they work with, and a shared belief that performance goes beyond the physical.

We don't just train bodies. We develop people, support recovery, and build the mental foundation that makes everything else possible. From the weight room to the field to the mind — we cover it all under one roof.

Founder/Director of Performance & Athlete Development

For over 13 years, Malik has helped athletes and everyday people discover what they're truly capable of. As the founder of More Than Fit, his vision was never just to build a gym — it was to build a movement rooted in education, intentional movement, and performance that starts from the inside out.

 

Holding 600+ hours of practical personal training education with specializations in Youth Exercise, Pre and Postnatal Training and  Performance Enhancement, his work spans individual coaching, youth athlete development, and long-term performance programming — all connected by a single mission: to help people become MORE. 

MTF is the full expression of that vision. A performance facility built for the community, staffed by specialists.

MAGGIE, CMPC

Head Mental Performance Consultant

Maggie is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant with a Master's in Sport & Performance Psychology and over a decade of experience in elite performance environments.

 

A former professional dancer, she knows firsthand what it takes to perform under pressure. Maggie works with athletes and performers to build confidence, sharpen focus, and stay composed when it matters most — combining proven mental skills training with real-world performance insight.

At MTF, Maggie leads the mental performance side of athlete and adult development — working 1-on-1, in groups, and alongside our coaching team to make sure the mind is trained with the same intentionality as the body. Because real performance starts there.

Head Physical Therapist

MTF is actively expanding. We are bringing on additional specialists across mental performance, physical therapy, and sports coaching to build a staff that reflects our commitment to the whole athlete.

LILY

Mental Performance Consultant

Lily combines competitive athletic experience with an academic focus on the mental side of performance. A former collegiate rower at Temple University, she understands firsthand what it takes to compete at a high level and how much of that battle is mental.

She is currently pursuing her Master's degree in Sport and Human Performance at Adler University and serves as an Assistant Girls Coach, giving her daily insight into the challenges young athletes face on and off the field.

 

Lily brings both empathy and expertise to her work with MTF athletes and clients.

DARCY

Mental Performance Consultant

Darcy brings a strong academic and applied foundation to the MTF mental performance team. She holds a degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is currently pursuing a dual Master's degree in Sport and Human Performance and Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adler University.

Her recent work at the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute involved supporting personalized exercise regimens, managing clinic operations, and collaborating with physical therapists to enhance patient recovery outcomes — giving her a unique perspective on the intersection of physical and mental performance.

Fitness
  • finding the right coach that is able not only able to teach, but make a child comfortable in a gym setting was important to me. 

    My son looks forward to his afternoons with Coach! If you're a parent in the city and want someone who will work side by side with your child, then Malik is the absolute best.

    Of note, Malik is also very dependable -- he doesn't cancel or change scheduling. He is very committed to his work and will always show up for his clients.
